Hi,

A friend checked the compression on my 1997 Nissan 50hp 2 cycle 3 cyl outboard.
We are not aware what the compression is suppose to be. The engine was used for 20 min without using oil mix. It ran like one cyclder was struggling. Right after I over compensated with oil mix , perhaps the real problem.

I looked at the owners manual & Google but seems impossible to find.

Can someone please tell me what the compression in the cylinder is suppose to be?

thanks

What are the 3 compression readings now? The information for all the regular service specs is in the Factory service manual, available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer, including me. The big thing is that all 3 cylinders should be within 10% of each other. Gauges and the associated bits vary a lot, so you may get readings that seem a little low, but as long as they are close to each other, and not ridiculously low, you should be OK. 20 minutes without oil could induce a lot of wear, and could scrape a cylinder, so if one cylinder is very low, you are looking at a tear-down.
