Hi Guys,
What kind of compression numbers should I be looking for on a used 115 Johnson V4, circa 1978? As new numbers, and usable numbers.
Thanks, Old Islander

There are no published numbers. All numbers should be within 10 % of each other.

I agree with boobie, there are no published compression number not even in engine shop manuals. However, lots of folks in the know seem to think 100psi or higher seem okay if all the numbers are within 10% of each other...

The OMC manuals said no more than 15 psi variation between cylinders. I believe the new ones say the same thing.

Thanks guys, I have heard 125psi is average, or a decent range. Will get it done and see.
