A buddy and I are looking at a hydro sports with a 2001 200 Hp Johnson
We checked the compression and the starbord side is 90 psi and the port side is 80 psi less than 10% difference burt it seems low . the motor has 440 hours on it.
what do ya'll think?
thanks

Re: compression on 200

Those big V6s were low compression engines, redfish. 80-90psi is okay.

Re: compression on 200

thanks fpr the reply . I thought the 80 was alittle low. and mosts guys will tell you it is.
I remember checking a 225 and it was pearty even 90. So I guess its ok. the boat sat for about a year and half. had to start it on a seperate little tank. and I checked it cold if that make any defference.

thanks again

Really! I had no idea the compression was that low on the V6s. My "new" '83 140 V4 has 135psi per hole. My '86 90hp has 125+ in three cyls & 85-90 in the one that puked?

As JB said, the compression is normal. Been there.
