I recently had my 1994 V-6 Evinrude 200 Vindicator overhauled. Since the overhaul (approx. 15 hours since o/h), it is still a little hard to start. It also has been dying out when in low speed. The tach has not worked since I got it back from the dealer. He has ordered and installed a new tach, it also does not work. They have installed a rectifier, stating that was bad. Still, the tach doesn't work. Yesterday, I had the mechanic, show me the compression readings. The #1 cylinder is 90, all other cylinders are 100. The dealer is stating that this is within specs. Is it within specs, and also, is this normal. When I took it to him back in late Nov. for winterizing, I told him that it seemed to be hard starting, and didn't seem to run as fast as before. He called me a couple weeks later, and advised me that there were scratches on the piston head due to a reed screw that had gotten loose. He stated one of the cylinders were low on the compression reading. I took him at his word, and authorized the overhaul. It's running about the same as before. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.
