1983 Evin 9.9 hp

Top cylinder was 96 psi and bottom was 111. I have heard compression should be over 100 and not greater than 10% variance. These results don't look very good, do they???

Test was performed properly so I know they are correct. Motor just overheated and I suspect variance is due to that.

any thoughts?

Compression is not likely to cause overheat.
Most likely cause is impeller or thermostat.
While your specs are slightly off the recommended
amount shouldnt cause any symtoms.
try a decarbonizing product. It may help compression.
