m looking at purchasing a boat 330 SeaRay Sundancer and the port engine is new ( has 60 hrs on it ). I had a compression test done it and it is as follows.

Cylinder PSI
1 130
3 140
5 110
7 140
2 135
4 140
6 120
8 130

The mechanic who did the test stated since the engine was so new that the two cylinders that showed lower PSI ratings were probably not fully seated yet or broken in. Can anyone please help in clarification on this test and if there is any truth to that statement ?

I appreciate any help in advance

Then who ever did the rebuild needs t go back to school

Engine break in is 10 hours, and even what that I wouldn't believe it, they should all be close to the same.

Should be much closer to 150

Was that cold motor or warm motor results? They can sometimes vary quite a bit.

60 hours is more than enough to get ful breakin unless they put synthetic oil in when the motor was new. Seen motors that never seated rings. Motor needs better details on how compression test is run or it’s a fail.

I am assuming a rebuilt engine, not a new engine. An engine with 1,000 hrs would probably have those same numbers.

What did the other engine look like as far as numbers?
