Has anybody on here used their stringers? If so, what was an approximate cost. The rep says I can bolt my inboard straight to the stringer. Im just curious about them being cost effective. They wont give you any cost analysis without going through the entire ordering process.

Re: Compsys composites

I actually talked to one of their people Scott Lewitt. Super nice guy to work with. I had planned to go with them, but since the economy tanked again I had to go with a lower cost option. For myself I was going to get the stringer custom made to what i needed. The package would have included: 1 bulkhead, 2 keel stringers, 3 inside stringers, and 4 outside stringers for a 19 foot deep v boat; all this would have been pieced together with tabbing and biaxial cloth to make 5 stringers total. The total cost came out to around $1300 not including another $1000 for resin (recommended 10 gallons I believe). I do have to say that the sent me a sample and I was very impressed and if I had the additional money would have gone with them. It is much lighter then wood and appears to be easier to shape (need a butter knife vs a saw with wood). A final thing you might want to be aware of is that the smallest width they can work with is 1.5 inch. For myself half of the stringer would have been off the hull, so that is another reason I decided to pass. They also sell pieces that are already made (jamestowndistributors) has plenty of pre-made dimensions.

Here is a link to a rebuild using them.
