I recently clicked onto my Mcaffee firewall icon to find alot of programs granted full access to internet from my computer that I did not authorize. My son has installed a program called called limeWire where he gets music downloads from some kind of file sharing system.I think part of his download gave access to these programs. Is this bad? could someone get important information from my files? what would they be after? I have my banking info on Quicken and some websites I access to check banking, investment, and CC info from. Could they get my passwords? and who would they be? I just dont know about this stuff.Should I be worried.

Go tell Mcaffee to warn you about sites you don't allow.
Block access to anything you don't know anything about.
Remove any programs you don't know anything about or downloaded yourself.

A good hacker could get on there and get your info, yes.

and set a password on Mcafee, if it supports it, so only you can give access for programs to access the internet.

Re: Computer/Firewall/LimeWire

I would suggest installing a program like Ad-Aware or Spywareblaster. The things you are seeing are probably nothing to really worry about, just some baggage that comes along with privilige of downloading music from this site. You can get the Ad-Aware or Spywareblaster free. Just do a google search for them and install. Then be darn sure to run the scan every week or more, and let the program find the little bugs and let it remove them. You will probbably be suprised to find out how many places are spying on your machine. If someone is trying to do something bad I think you will find out pretty quick.
