Computer Geeks/Spywear question

Okay People, this question I have been wanting to ask for quite a while so here goes. Every night I run my Spybot(which hardley picks anything up anymore), SpySweeper(which always picks a couple up), and AdAware(will pick things up if I run first. I realize if you do not run these programs your computer will be bombarded with spywear & that it will freeze up on you.<br /><br />Here is my Question: Why do these programs not block these spywear hits after you run the programs and get rid of them? It seems that it's always the same things being picked up anyway so why not block them like you can block unwanted email? I have been wondering this for a long time and wonder if there is a good answear out there?

Have you tried the Microsoft Anti-spyware? I have been pretty happy with it and it's free.<br /><br />Bob

Most of the things they pick up are cookies [most] are not harmful, some of other things <br />[ex hotbar] utilize shared devises that run windows so if taken out your computer screws up big time , so it seperates what can be safely taken out ,as windows does when removing programs'windows will ask if you want to keep shared devises Beware of some of those free so called spy programs they don't search everything untill you pay for it Microsoft has a free Beta verison 10 MB very good but might not be free for long think it only works on 2000 and up I personaly back-up my registry and fix myself ,dump cookies regular and internet temp files also regular Go to microsoft net in the scripting they will teach all about the registry for free Search microsoft site Registry

Bob_VT....I know about the microsoft spywear and have installed it in my friends computer and they really like it. I cannot run it as I am still a hold out with Windows 98. Like it alot and cannot bring myself to change yet although I know I will have to soon.<br /><br />dolluper...Is there a better way or a recommend way without getting into trouble of dumping your internet temp files? I know you can go into internet options in your control panel but that doesn't get rid of them all. What way would you suggest to do it?

Sorry bud not up on win 98 do you have disc cleaner or scandisc FROM THE Start button/up to programs/over to accessories/over to system tools/<br />disc cleaner or what you have scandisc????<br /><br />OR Start button/search/ files or folders/ type in temp files or<br />internet temp files<br />click on any file once just to blue and top of page hit file check properties want to keep it leave it don't want it after you checked it's properties delete it goes to recycle bin you can recover there if you want before shut down if it dumps auto at shutdown

spyware blaster is a free tool that does just that. google it to find it. download, update it, and set it for max protection. helps a bunch.<br /><br />most of these spyware programs are stuck within your registry. run those programs all you want, but the entries will return.<br /><br />only way i have been able to get and keep a clean system is to get professional help and then turn the firewall on.<br /><br />i think we spoke before, but i got the system 100% clean through bleepingcomputer.com highjackthis forum. i then truned on the firewall and 2 months later, spybot and adaware don't find a thing.

Yes mattttt25 we have talked before and I will try what you suggest......the spyware blaster and bleeping computers. I do have a good firewall and it's only a couple of hits I get but they are the same ones all the time. Kinds of Pi---- you off when it's the same day after day and something must take care of it in this day and age. Tks for your input.

What are you getting everyday?From the start button to find you can search files and folders for cookies just type in cookies Search in C

Okay Mattttt25 and Dolluper I think between you both I am up and running with no cookies,etc. Hurray!Hurray!<br /><br />Mattttt25 I downloaded the SpywareBlaster as you suggested an did what dolluper said about getting rid of cookies and I think I have solved my problem. I ran Spybot, addware, etc this morning and came up with Nada! Never had this before!<br /><br />dolluper..One last question for you. Don't rejoice yet! Is there such a thing as good cookies and bad ones? If there is , how do you tell the difference? Are there ones you should leave alone? I went into my find, files/folders, typed in cookies and got rid of the ones that come up every morning when I run the checks. The other ones I left and they range from cookies from iboats to .com ones. If it's not broken don't fix it(should I go by that?). Tks in advance. By the way, we are suppose to go to 22/23C on the island today. About time!

You can hit select all and delete , then only the sites you visit will dump their cookies,it will be slower loading the sites the first time because their installing the cookie Bad cookies usually are ad ones they track you and thru dynamic toolbars load you up with temptations to see this or that By the way Microsoft antispy is free till end of July good for win2000 and up, oh yeah slide your cursor close to the cookie in the list it will give you full name of cookie monster<br />HAD 24 yesterday today we have your rain 15

Faster way Tools top of page down to internet options general tab Temporary lnternet Files<br />cookies delete, files delete<br />or go to settings<br />view files ,view objects<br />You can clear your history if you want also on Internet Options page but going into sites is slower the first time

Tks for how to delete cookies. The settings one sure would seem to much quicker if you want to delete all cookies. Will fool around with it. What do you mean our rain????? The WetCoast is always sunny

dolluper's method for deleting cookies and temp internet files is the easiest way. takes about 10 seconds start to finish.<br /><br />no problem deleting all cookies and files. maybe a slightly slower load on some pages, but then you build them right back up. i delete everything once a week.<br /><br />glas spywareblaster worked for you. does help a bit. just don't be upset if something shows up again. if you have something hiding, everything you've done still won't get rid of it.

My guess is that you are using Internet Explorer. I switched to Firefox and eliminated the vast majority of the adware on my system.
