Re: computer

Sounds like you got a virus. First things first update the definitions of your antivirus software. (Norton or McAfee) Then run a scan disk and it should find and remove the virus automatically for you. If not go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download and run Stinger. This is another software file that locates and removes viruses. You can also try http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan your pc. Or if you know the names of the virus you can use this one to remove an individual virus. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/tools.list.html

Make sure you reboot after trying each of these J

Re: computer

I have had this happen before with two different computers, once on my home computer before I built the new one, and once here at work.

Both times it was from over heating. Not enough to shut everthing down, but enough to make this warning to come on. Take the cover off and clean everything real well. Make sure ALL your fans are working, or even install another one or two. I have seen some new computers come with only the fan in the power supply. You should have at least one blowing in and one blowing out besides the power supply fan. Also, depending on how old your computer is you might even remove the CPU fan and CPU and clean and replace the heat sink compound between the two. Not a bad Idea to do once a year anyway. This one thing probably isnt your problem, (the CPU), put it is good preventative maintenance while you are in there.

Re: computer

If you want to load-test your computer to find heating faults, use Prime95. Be sure to click 'Just Stress Testing' when you install - it'll pick some more difficult tests.
If it starts reporting errors after a while, you've got heating problems.

You would be suprised how many 'brand-new' computers can't run this program.
