condenser swap

i own a 8hk cresent motor. am having no luck at all in locating new condensers to it. does anyone know if i can use a condenser from another make(ie omc 8hk)?
will it work?

Howdy, Griz.

In magnetos the condensers are/is merely a shock absorber to keep the points from arcing. Any condenser with the same physical configuration should work fine.

By the way, they don't wear out. If they work, they work. If not they need replacement. Like most electronic components.

Also, many manufacturers didn't make their own magnetos. It is quite possible that another make engine of the same vintage would have the same magneto.
