Conditions on Roosevelt (AZ)?

Were planning a trip out to Roosevelt sometime soon. I was wondering, from those who have been there, how the conditions usually are on weekends?
Crowded?
Busy?
Windy?
Wavy?

Were trying to decide if it would be fun to go on a saturday or sunday, or if we should hold off for a weekday in order to get the best conditions for skiing and wakeboarding.
Also what about on Fathers day? Think it will be packed like Pleasant always is?

thanks for any info.

Re: Conditions on Roosevelt (AZ)?

I have been to all the Salt River lakes except Roosevelt. I can't offer much of an opinion on Roosevelt, but I know it is a big lake, and far enough removed from Phoenix that it should not be too crowded. During your tow you may find a lot traffic on the Beeline highway. One minor accident on a holiday weekend will close that freeway for a few hours.

My primary lake is Pleasant due to its close location near my home. I agree that Pleasant can get really crowded. On holiday weekends I prefer Bartlett lake as it is reasonably close by, and less crowded than Pleasant. Keep an eye on the AZ Fish & Game website for water levels at Bartlett. When it is 50% full or less you run into the possibility of damaging your boat. My brother-in-law did some costly damage to his boat at Bartlett when the water was low. From now on we are really careful to check the water lever before planning a trip to Bartlett. As the summer passes Lake Pleasant will drop below 50% full, but Pleasant always seems to have enough deep water to avoid damage.

On 5/29 I am going to give Upper Lake Mary near Flagstaff a try. Lake Mary is a small mountain lake, but there is not a horsepower limit. I am not sure what to expect at Lake Mary, and with the worst of the tow behind me I should keep on driving to Powell. I still hope to get to Powell sometime this summer.
