Can someone confirm I'm looking for the right carb kit for my 1988 mercruiser 3.0. Sn# 0C356694. Carb tag says mercruiser 3.0 Liter 1983-2001. And i believe i need kit # 3302-804844002. And any other info/advise regarding this carb and the rebuild? Thanks all.

Provided that your accelerator pump plunger has a 90* bend at the top, that's the correct kit.
That's an easy carb to work on. Just make sure that you get everything good and clean. Don't use cloth to wipe things off because the lint can plug things up. There should be instructions in the kit for everything that needs adjusting but it's a good idea to see how far the idle mixture screw is from bottoming when you're disassembling so that you can set it to the same position when reassembling.

I'll be sure to count how many turns out the idle mixture screw is. Good advice. Thanks

I managed to get your carb number to come up in the Sierra Marine parts catalog. You do have the correct kit number. Seirra's part number for the kit is 18-7098-1.
Sierra parts are available at just about any marina in Ontario. I would think that Manitoba would be the same. You could also check to see what it would cost to order it from here. Just click on the "Boat Parts and Accessories" box at the top of this page and then punch the part number into the search box at the top of the page.

Cargo East Marine on Marion has access to the Sierra line.
Best if you provide the numbers though.

No Title

Hey all,

I got the carb kit and did the rebuild today. But i think my carb may have been missing parts. I took everything apart over top of a new baking sheet so i wouldn't lose anything. But when i split the carb apart under the accelerator pump was a long spring, but that's it. No part # 22 retainer spring and no part # 24 check ball. So i put it all back together without them. What do you think? I didn't take any pictures, but looking at it i couldn't see how the clip and ball would fit in there in the first place.

Cheers and thanks. :thumb:

I don't think all mercabs have a check ball below the pump. Get some gas in the carb and work the throttle back and forth. If your getting a squirt out if the accelerator pump nozzles it's working ok .

If you take a close look at the plunger #20 in that diagram it has a straight top. Yours has a 90* bend at the top. The one in the picture is a bottom fill pump and the ball is the intake valve. Yours is a top fill pump and the intake valve is in the new plunger.
