I want install a tach for my '84 60 horse, but looking at Teleflex and Faria websites, get conflicting settings for my engine. Teleflex indicates 6P while Faria says 5P. Both should say the same since the setting is based on the engine windings, not the manufacturer? Or are they different because of different manufacturers? 60 horse, 2 cylinder, 1984.
Thanks

Does the Faria say "5p" or just "5". I believe their setting "5" is actually for 6p. Instead of identifying their systems by poles or 1/2-poles they just use a number system. Just a bad coincidence that 5 = 6p, in this case.

So your engine is a two-cylinder and not a three-cylinder. I don't know these models. I can see Faria shows the 1985+ 3-cyl 60HPs as 12-poles. Maybe they have a few booboos in their list. Or Teleflex does. Or both.

One of the expert mechanics here will have to chime in to let you know exactly what you've got. 10 pole or 12 pole?
