I have 3100 2003 model.
Just bought the boat and can't figure out if I have a SE or SCR model?
MY ownders manual says only SCR but the paperwork to purchase says SE??
Also I am baffled about the engines and drives.
The boat has 5.0 Mercury Fuel Injected motors. I have seen these motors refered to from 220 HP to 260HP. I' seen boat tests done on this boat where they call them 220HP with top speeds of in the 30's.
I dont get it. My marine guys say the engines are more like 250-260 and the boat will run low 40's.
FInally, I have seen boat tests where they refer to this model having Bravo II drives but all my material refers to my drives being Bravo III's ????
HELP!

Re: Confused about models and engines

Dyna,

The 3100 for maxums refers to the length and normally the lettering at the end refer to the configuration of the interior and accessories. I own a 1900 SC which is a 19" Cuddy that has the same hull as the 1900 SR which is the 19" Bow Rider. In some cases it can compare two different configurations of the same vehicle like a Ford Explorer and Ford Explorer Trek, which the only difference is the trek has a pickup bed, instead of a hatchback. Other cases it might be a comparison of trim like the Base model vs. the Limited.

I checked around and it looked like Sport Cruisers models from ~2001 and earlier were had the designation of "SCR" following the size. It looks like in 2003 they started using "SE" as well as changed the name from Sport Cruisers to Sport Express Cruisers 2004-07, then in 2k8 they went back to "Sport Cruisers", though after they changed it to SE from SCR they kept SE. Man that is confusing. Sometimes they don't update the manuals, our old Chevy Suburban had a GMC Yukon manual in it.

Since they don't have a bow rider configuration of your boat, you don't need to worry about the letters as there was only 1 type of 31ft boat for that year: http://www.maxumboats.com/brochure.asp?modelid=22847

If you have a Fuel Injected instead of a corroborator you will get a little more HP. Are you sure it is Fuel Injected? I looked at the stats on the website and it indicates this: T-220 hp (Bravo II): Twin 5.0 L Mercury? MerCruiser? Bravo? II Sterndrive (T-220 hp). Unless the website is wrong or if someone got an upgrade, I can't answer. I would HIGHLY suggestion you take some detailed pictures and post them on the engine forum, not the Maxum.
