Confused about the RACOR 320R-RAC-01 MARINE FUEL FILTER

I am a bit confused about the RACOR 320R-RAC-01 MARINE FUEL FILTER WATER SEPARATOR. There are two inputs and one output on the filter. What sort of application would use two inputs, but only one output?

Why would I want this? I have two up-takes from the gas tank -- one hose for the main motor and one for the kicker motor. Wouldn't I want a filter with two intakes and two outputs?

Or am I just confused?

There are two inlets for mounting flexibility. (not expected that you would use more than one)
