Had the boat out for the first time this year. Just some background. 1995 90HP V4 Evinrude 1994 Harris Floteboat. The previous owner had an alarm took the boat to the marina. New impeller and thermostats couple of years ago. He never put in the water since. I bought it on conditions. Ran the motor on the ears, checked with the gauge onboard and with a infrared thermometer did not get hot. Still got an alarm couple of minutes after starting but the gauge looks good, you can put your hand on the head. Now got an alarm this weekend had both sensors unplugged. This had a VRO that has been unhooked is there an alarm for oil and where is the sensor?

Re: Console Alarm

First guess is horn inside the control. VRO pump has alarm sensor on pump and the oil tank. If you are running premix 50-1 these sensors should be disconnected. Leaves only overheat sensor, 2 sensors 1 on each head. disconnect all sensors, if the wiring harness good condition, alarm still sounds, replace alarm horn.

Both sensors are disconnected. Does the sensor ground the horn so it will sound?

Re: Console Alarm

if wire touch block it will sound the alarm.

Johnson alarms

An intermittant "beep...beep...beep" sound has to do with oil injection. A steady continuous " beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" has to do with overheating. Oil injection on all outboards produces an intermittant beep when there is either a problem with your motor not getting oil, oil tank level sensor is bad, or your oil level in the tank is low. When the oil tank is low, you have roughly 30 to 45 minutes running time before being empty. Regardless, when you hear the intermittant "beep...beep...beep" sound, always make sure you know the answer (low oil or no oil) before continuing to operate motor further. If you dont understand the oil warning, your motor is doomed from continued operation if the oil injection system has failed.

Re: Console Alarm

Tashas Daddy Thank you the alarm is the beep beep. The oil tank is gone and I am premixing. That was the way it was when I bought the boat. How can I find the wiring to stop the low oil alarm? I beleive also that the previous owner also never had an overheat but was chasing and oil alarm as well. I read in the VRO thread about how when you turn on the key you momentarily get an alarm that part works. But what am I looking for the oil side. Thanks

Re: Console Alarm

Guys,
I am having a similar problem, but with "S-L-O-W" system when the alarm sounds, the engine powers back. (1992 60 HP TLENE
Called prior owner and he was having the same problem before selling to me.
I have disconnected VRO, also wiring to the tank and taped up the ends. I don't see any wires on the pump itself. I just replaced the water pump, and have good flow (pressure). Waring is slow beep-beep-beep so the syatem is thinking it is low on oil.
Since I am on "premix" and I have installed a temp guage and a water pressure guage, is there a way to disable the "S_L_O_W" system and alarm system all together? I would prefer not to have the alarm going off all the time.

Thanks, Pops
