Console baitwell question

I have a 2003 Mako 192 Center Console that I bought used last year and I am trying to troubleshoot the console baitwell that doesn’t work . Not really sure what this is supposed to do either. I have a small livewell at the transom that fills with seawater and has an overflow tube, the console baitwell only has a drain not a hose or tube coming in to fill with water. The old owner said he used it as a cooler. Trying to gain info on Classic Mako but I can’t seem to post yet. I will try calling Mako but I am not optimistic. Any thoughts.

Then maybe it isn't or never was intended as a bait well. Melted ice needs to drain somewhere and unless there is a fitting or a spray bar on the tank it is not a baitwell.

Sounds like a cooler.

My fish box only only has a drain put is much larger than the bait well. Holds 4-5 fish over 40”
