I have a problem with my 2010 Alumacraft 1756. Recently the console lights quit working, aerator and bilge will not come on and the horn just makes a muted buzzing noise. I had it working for awhile when I tampered with what I thought might have been a loose ground wire in one of the wiring connections. I then applied dielectric grease to those 2 connections to help water proof them, and now I am getting the same power loss and buzzing. Any solutions?

Re: console wiring problem

It's possible that you may have a common ground for several devices. That could be why they all seemed to fail at the same time. With electrical connections, there needs to be a strong mechanical connection as well as a good electrical connection. By mechanical I mean, wires twisted together securely or well crimped with proper sized lug or terminal. The electrical part can be helped with the dielectric grease, which reduces corrosion, and also by soldering connections. If connections have been loose for a while, the wires are probably corroded and burned. Strip down to clean wire and re-terminate. Waterproof after good connections are verified, if you attempt to waterproof first, you may be causing your own problems. Good luck.
