Got an 18' cc boat I'm getting cleaned up and ready to go again this spring. Changed my VHF, fishfinder, and GPS.

Need some thoughts on best way to wire the 12v to these so it looks nice, and I can disconnect the power cords from the units easily.

One option would be to mount a distribution block on the back corner of the horizontal center console surface. That way, I can leave very short pigtails with automotive type plugs in place, and still be able to quickly connect and remove my electronics. The plugs I'm thinking of are a plastic or rubber encapsulated thing with one female and one male in each plug, and they mate with another similar one.

Any other thoughts?

Re: console wiring question

Sounds like you got it figured out already. That should work without any problems.

Re: console wiring question

It sounds like you want to be able to pull the electronics while in port to prevent someone from stealing your expensive stuff.

If so, you might want to think about having a dummy plug for each connection that would keep the connection sealed when the electronics is out. This will keep the connectors from being exposed to the salt air and prevent corrosion.
