Constant alarm '89 merc

I have a 1989 80hp merc and the alarm is a constant on. engine is getting oil thru all tubes, runs fine hooked up to the hose, but when I took it out yesterday on the river it kills when I gave it gas. I disconnected the oil sensor from its tank and the alarm shuts off, so its not so annoying. Everything appears to be working just fine.

OK. looked at some other threads-appears to be the heat sensor? i do not have a manual and do not know where the sensor is located or what it looks like.

anyone agree or disagree with me. is my post even out there
please let me know if the info I have provided is clear. I believe my engine is a 187 and a 70hp merc. bought it from my brother, you'd think he would've known.
