A constant beep of my 1991 Johnson 115hp has been go on during initial start. I have tested the engine out of the water and did not notice this, but after filling her up with gas and launching, the alarm was set off. After starting and re-starting several times I have noticed that the beeps have become more sporadic, but still beeps.

Sorry, if the answer is obvious. New boater.

Thanks

Re: Constant beep

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already checked the oil and there seems to be enough in the tank. Could it be a faulty engine overheat horn?

Thanks again.

Re: Constant beep

I'd say your horn is working fine :p

Could be a bad overheat sender, or more likely a shorted sender wire.

Re: Constant beep

Its supposed to give a short beep every time you turn the key on. Is it doing something more than that?

Dumb question..but how much is seems to be enough? Fill that sucker up to the top and then see if you get that alarm. Low oil should buzz every 20 seconds..before that..it sounds like a cable that is tensing up then letting loose. To see if the engine is over heating is it pushing water through the back pee holes? Do you have a water guage?
