Contaminated T & T oil in the system. Milky oil and the trim does not seem to be responding right..... 1992 mercruiser Alpha1 4.3 v6

Is it possible that it is sucking water in through a trim cylinder? One or both?

I know it's not a good sign.... one of many during a water test of the boat.

Input?

Thanks,
Bob

Unless the Trim Pump has been Underwater lately,.........

That would be My 1st Guess......

Napa can usually have the Reseal Kits for the rams overnite........

Depending on the amount of Corrosion,...... It's not that Bad a Job...... A Vise is Handy.....

Btw,..... When I sunk the Starcraft, it took several Changes of Oil to clear the system......
I used a little plastic Pump like for outdrives to pump out the Res.,.........

Re: Contaminated T & T

Thanks,

There were some strange happenings..... the trim button on the throttle lever was trashed and so was the throttle itself. Someone had put a toggle switch on the dash as a "fix"..

No trim indicator and everything seemed sluggish. Gauges on the dash were not working and the few that were questionable.

I experienced the engine revving too high over 5500 and felt as if the prop was at cavitation or slipping.... terrible response.

Once back on the trailer I stuck my head into the engine compartment and saw the reservoir only half full of milky oil.

Aside from the hull being in decent shape and the engine "sounded" good (we did at one point top out at 40 by GPS) the rest seemed neglected....

The trailer had surge brakes that were questionable..... just too many headaches for $3995 so my advice was to avoid it.

The entire test run was very short lived.
