I just began the teardown of my 21' Continental CC, purchased and ran for a few seasons before the soft spots and finish pushed me to rebuild.
Plan is to redo the transom, stringers, and then deck...going to begin cutting out the deck soon, just need some guidance on how to approach the deck cap/liner.
Do I cut it out close to the top of the gunnels and run gussets to reinforce whats left of the cap/liner (partial cap restore) or do I completely remove and go the deck/sole route and make it look like a seacraft (lol).
As you can see the inner gunnels are wavy, and also there is foam in between the inner and outer skin of the liner. Also note there is likely a significant amount of repair and fairing needed on the cap/liner should I decide to keep...havent taken it down to the glass but whats left of the gelcoat is cracking, crazing, you name it.
Here are some pics of where she stands.
Here are some pics of the same boat, but notice he did something interesting with the cap because its the factory cap (really thick at the bow, has the same unique contour aft as mine)) with something done to the liner with added gussets. Obviously he closed in the transom which I plan to do as well.
Your input is appreciated, ill keep the thread going with pics as I make progress.
