What do the different beeps from the control mean? Is there anywhere I can find this information? I have a continuous beep that beeps in one second intervals. The beep only occurs when the boat is planing off, and continues even after putting the boat back in nuetral. I can turn the switch/motor off, and it will idle with no beep. Any ideas?

VRO system has been disconnected and all in/out plugs sealed, and thermostats have been removed due to excessive corrosion.

Re: Control Alarm

I am looking forward to the replies on this as I was just getting ready to search for this info and see if I could figure out what one long beep followed by 2 short beeps ment. mine are before starting

Re: Control Alarm

Looks like we'll never know, Duff. Called a Mercury dealer that wanted to charge me $200 to fix the problem. Says it's for sure the oil level alarm. Says that once you disable your VRO, the disconnected wire(s) trigger the alarm, but that Mercury sells some sort of kit to fix this. I'm not sold on there being a kit. He didn't tell me the name of the kit, and i'm yet to find ANYTHING online about it. Plus, it makes little sense to me that a disconnected wire would trigger anything i couldn't disable by removing something, not adding something ("the magical kit") to my system.

Re: Control Alarm

have you tried grounding or shorting the wires together? if it is just because the VRO has been disconnected then the wires are not sending the signal and closing the loop should fix this problem. as an electrician on million dollar weapon systems thats what I would do! granted this is not a weapon system.

Anyone out there know if this will cause any damage shorting the wires to try and eliminate the alarm in this situation?
