On my control box there is a on-off switch under the key switch. the on-off has a plastic cover on it with a slot on top. Is this my emergency cut off and what should be attached to it so i can shut down fast if i needed to? Thanks again to you all.

Yes -- that's the kill switch. The lanyard has a plastic or metal tab on the end. Put the switch in the down position, insert the tab above the toggle, then put the switch up again. When you pull the lanyard, the tab forces the toggle down thus killing the engine. You should be able to get the lanyard right here on iBoats or at your local Merc dealer.

Si. ( politically correct for yes ) those kill switches come in handy if you ever fall off your boat.

Yes -- the engine will crank with the kill switch activated. It kills the ignition. It does not disable the starter.
