Ok I am going to do a copy and paste from a thread i have in another section.
Any and all help is welcome....

Alright guys I have an update on my situation, I got the new stator on and she fired right up....took it out to the lake, left it on the trailer and fired her up, hit the throttle and she reved to about 4gs. Figured probably should do a link and sync and clean the carbs. Got home, and for some reason decided to pull the #3 plug to see how it looked. I saw water on the plug, so back on the hose she went fired it up only to see water comming out of the upper exaust port. So I shut it down and pulled the plug back out and got a light and looked around, sure enough part of the piston came apart and apparently went through the water jacket.

This is were my work stoped and my searching started. I looked at a few boats with various motors on them and could not find one to my liking, and in the price range that my accountant allowed me to use.

I happen to expand my search on Craigslist to find a posting for a Glasstream 15.5 foot bass boat with a merc 115 tower of power. Claimed the motor ran great, blue band, with the solid state ignition.

So fastfoward four days and I am at Lake Guntersville to take this thing for a water test. The told me the boat was in decent shape, needed some carpeting. Decent in some peoples eyes are total trash in others eyes.... and this was the case this time.

Hit the water and this thing ran like a champ, so we settled on a deal and i trailered her home.

Now here is where my questions start.

This motor on the Glasstream only has power tilt, and uses and external pump (that leaks like crazy) My motor has tilt and trim with the updated setup. Can i change just the tilt and trim over to the new motor?

Does anyone know what wiring changes will need to be made to make this work with the control box off of the Merc, since the one off of my Mariner will not fit the plug.

next post----

The engine side wiring harness is completely different, since I have the complete boat i am going to change the entire harness.

I think I have figured out how to get the tilt/trim to work. The front support brace on the cowling ( the one that supports the cover around the fly wheel) will be changed over. This is where the mariner has the T/T solenoid. From here It is a two wire hook up, for the most part. Green/White and Blue/White respectively.

Now that is sort of sorted out, I think that I can unbolt the mid section from the T/T bracket with four bolts. The only thing that I can see that will get in the way is the Shift rod (at least that is what I think it is). My question is, can the shift rod be pulled out if the lower unit is off? Or how can I get the linkage out so this will come apart.

On a Side not I can now see why Seloc is not recommended.

Next Post---

The motor on the Glasstream serial number 5327819- this comes up to a 1979.
did some more research on the wiring. It looks like I am going to have to use the control box that is already on the boat (Champion) Now i am trying to cross reference the wiring so that I can splice the two harness together. Here is what I have so far.
I hope someday this can help someone out

Merc goes to Mariner
Black - Starter Solenoid Black
Orange Upper Switch Box 1st from front Black/Yellow
Brown - Rectifier Grey
Red + Starter Solenoid Red
Yellow Starter Solenoid(trigger????) Yellow/Red
Grey Choke Solenoid Yellow Black

Now the diagrams for the trim switches on the different control boxes are giving me a hard time. If someone could help out here

The Glasstream has a Early remote control WITH power trim/tilt (that is how it is labeled in the Seloc book
The Champion has a Quicksilver control

I can take pictures of both if it would help, at this point any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys

Oh the reason for changing the control boxes is that the Merc one is too thick to let my seat flip up, where the QuickSilver one is allot slimmer.
