Control Cable Adjustment help needed

Hey Guys
Just changed both control cables on my 1987 Suzuki 115hp. Easy enough procedure and have taken the boat out and after a few fine tuning adjustments, everything seems to work fine. Now for the problem, the throttle will not stay where I put it unless I hold it. If I take my hand off, it begins to return to the starting point? Did I miss something, is something in the control box not tight enough? Any ideas are appreciated.

Lou,

You should have a throttle tension nut in or on your control box. On most, it's right below the key switch.

On my 1987 Suzuki DT85 the throttle tension nut is in the front of the control box (it would be underneath the lever at full throttle). When you put new cables on which probably have less friction than the old ones you need more friction in the box. Over time you might need to back off.
