I'm changing from Evinrude, 1984, to Yamaha, 1991, 140hp. Does anyone know if I can reuse my Evinrude control cables? Haven't picked up the Yamaha yet and would like to know if I need to order new cables.<br />Thanks,<br />Jeff.

it depends<br /> the yamaha will require the 33 type control cables with 10-32 threads on each end. if your OMC controls were rigged with OMC snap in cables they wont work. if they were rigged with 33 seies cables with OMC adapters they will. so its a how high is up question with the info you posted.

Thanks Rod, can't pick up the boat till next week so I'll know by then. Thinking it must be just as easy to order the new cables anyway.
