i know you guys might cringe when i say this but i have a 10 foot invader and i picked up an old 57 big twin with control box and cables,

the cables are about 7 or 8 feet long and i barely need more then 4 or 5 feet

is it possible to cut the cables and reattach the fittings that attach to the engine or is that possible , it would save me a bunch of coin

using the old cables at that length would leave so much excess that would not be ideal, probably affect the functionality as well

Wow! Won't that sink the back of the boat? I don't think there is a practical way to remove and re-attach those brass fittings on the end of the cable. And not sure if you can get new ones that short.

Re: Control Cables

I had somewhat of the same probem when I got an 88 V-4 with controls. Ended up with about 6 feet of extra length. I coiled them under the center console (BW Montauk 17) then through the channel to the motor with no problems. Keep the coils as loose as possible to prevent excess friction and potential binding.
