controls for 1984 Johnson

I am looking at an extremely low hours 1984 Johnson 9.9 for push my 16' Starcraft a little faster than my old 5.5 Evinrude kicker motor. I currently have dual controls for the 55HP and the 5.5 (61). Question is, would the same cables and box running the 5.5 run the 9.9??

In case I did not give enough information....my 5.5 has type 400 cables and a separate control box, old type that has two handles. The 55 has the "pilot" control and is not involved with this upgrade. I am not familiar with the 84' 9.9 Johnson motor and was just concerned it might use a differnt cable.....
The motor is on Ebay, owner claims 1 hour run time, was a kicker motor that was just not needed. Looks brand new.
