I recently acquired a 1958 Alumacraft Deep C, the boat has the steering and controls on the left side. The boat comes with a 1965 35Hp Merc that I plan on removing and selling. I purchased a Mark 58A to replace it. The motor came with controls but they are right handed. Is there vintage left hand controls that will work or is a conversion possible?

I don't know the exact method used on your control but almost all modern control boxes can be flipped from right hand to left hand control.

For better instructions go to the Mercury forum.

What controls did your Mark 58 come with? The 2-handle Quicksilver style (separate throttle and shift handles) can be swapped side-to-side quite easily by running the cables out the other end. If they're a single lever style (one main handle for throttle and shift, plus a smaller warm-up lever) they can be swapped side-to-side by moving the main handle to the opposite side. Not as elegant, but doable.

Thanks for the info on the switch. I put it in the other forum because I want something period correct figured it was closer to a restoration issue (my bad)
I don't plan on switching the motor till this winter I have plenty of time to look.

There is a photo posting sticky at top of many forums. Most of us use photobucket.com

Heck I even found a place that sells replacement decals for the shifter, I can mout the controller over and it will look good as new.
