If a set of controls has a trim/tilt button on it, would it be safe to say that it also has the trailer button? If not is the trailer button needed? I have a 26 ft. Wellcraft Excel SE. It has the Quicksilver 3000 Classic remote system. It has both trim/tilt and a separate trailer button. This remote system is worn out, and I'm thinking of replacing it with the Commander 3000 which is almost identical. It didn't look as though the Commander 3000 had a separate trailer button - I'm looking for some advice here.

Thanks,

Steve

P.S. The boat is a 1996. It has the 7.4 litre Bravo II.

If not is the trailer button needed?I would think something would have to be used to hold the outdrive up or take a chance of it bleeding off and droping. I have a 26 ft. Wellcraft Excel SE. I think you might need to get the right controls.

Re: controls question Trim/tilt "trailer"

Not all controls have a trailer button. I also had a 1996 Wellcraft Excell, but it was a 21SX. It had the tilt and trim, but would not tilt high enough to damage the engine by running with the foot out of the water until you hit the trailer button. Most of the other boats I have owned would tilt the engine or outdrive all the way up with just the tilt and trim on the throttle.

The trailer button is a built in saftey, but you can likely make one of the other tilt and trims work.
