Conversion: 60's 16' to 1979 Montauk style

What would it take to upgrade an old, rough 60's Whaler (16') to a nice central console unit.

It is sad to write to your own thread, but someone must have rebuilt an old whaler and installed a central console. I have run into quite a few sports and older kahama's, but are they worth the trouble.
