Convert 1988 DT200 to counter rotating?

I have twin 1988 DT200's on my boat and I'd like to convert one motor to a counter rotating setup. I've found out that suzuki didn't offer a counter rotating gearcase back then, so there's no official way to convert. I'm wondering if it would be possible to simply reverse the shift linkages and run the motor with the CR prop in 'reverse'? Can this gearcase be run in reverse at cruising rpm's for extended periods or is this just asking for trouble?<br /><br />Thanks for any advice,<br />Rob
