If I drop a new(er) 5.7GIC ~2012 in the place of an old(er) 5.0 GXI-E ~2005, what would I need to change. Boat is a 2005 Four winns 190 horizon

I know I would need to have a 14 pin to 10 pin adaptor for the electric, but is there anything that would need to change on the exhaust side, same or different Y-pipe, connector tubes? I noticed the riser and elbows are all one piece on the newer motor (with Cats). does that connect to the same location in the old Y-pipe as my existing motor or do I need a different Y-pipe?

Any other "gotchas" in converting from the 2005 motor to a 2012?

Thanks

Have not done this kind of swap but not to sure using an adapter 14 to 10 pin would be all that is needed. The motor uses a CAN bus and most likely will need the VP EVC display and cabling

@muc

As for the exhaust, if it will connect to Y pipe there should be no issue

No idea without S/Ns.
Take the serial numbers from both engines and start comparing part numbers to Y pipes TSK and other points of connection.
Serial numbers will also be needed to determine wiring, controls and gauges.
