Have a 1983 Shorelander Roller trailer with 83 Starcraft center console. Any input on converting to bunk type. been looking at taking rollers off and attaching bunk to same hardware so bunk would pivot similar to roller set ? Trailer front rollers.jpg

Trailer built 3x5 steel tubes much sturdier than what I see for sale today. Replaced leaking/loose rivets and most off the locations were where rollers rubbing on hull. Bought boat and trailer 3 years ago. Lower unit year 1, plugging leaks year 2&3, get trailer ready for running to Lake Erie or Ludington MI fishing this year. At least thats the plan for this year.

You might consider looking at where your roller are located in relation to the hull or consider adding another pair of rollers to distribute the weight more. I have a 22' alum hull that has been sitting on a magliner roller trailer since 1983 without issue. Mine does have 3 sets of rollers under the hull and keel rollers on the front. Are the rear rollers right at the transom of your hull? My rollers support the hull right at a rib, not in between like some do. Just some thoughts here..........

I've converted bunks to rollers, but never the other way around. If you have dents, either the rollers are not adjusted properly, or its a cheap trailer with insufficient rollers.

My personal riule of thumb is divide the boat weight by 120 and that's how many rollers you need. Then adjust so each roller can be turned by hand.
