has anyone ever converted an inboard boat to an outboard? whats involved and how did it turn out? i figure i'd have to add another sheet of plywood to the transom for strength....but i was wondering about the different weight distribution and how this would affect the overall performance of the boat? in really like my boat but the engine is old and when it eventually fails i was thinking an outboard would be a better choice for many reasons........

It has been done many times, but it is a lot of work, and often times expensive because you are changing the structure of the boat.

the lowest cost way to do that is to sell your I/O boat and buy an OB boat.

it can be done, its more expensive than buying a second boat and having two
