Hi, can anyone tell me if you can bypass or convert the raw water pickup in the outdrive to a through the hull type and does this cool the heat exchanger better? I mean is this worth doing if doable at all?
Thanks

The exchanger ws updated to a 4 inch type to help cooling. Why do you think you need to do more?

It is an older boat an has a 3 in , and there always seems to be an issue of getting warm and I know the 4in is mucho much $ and did'nt know if it was a good investment as far as keeping him cool as compared to the through the hull thing or if that was mega $$ or if it even could be done. That is why I am asking here, seems if it has been thought of or talked about it was done here.

Ayuh,... A Larger heat exchanger will Cool it more...
Changing the water supply Won't,...
Unless the current supply is Substandard... In that case, Fix it...

How warm are we talking? Fresh water cooled engines are supposed to run a bit warmer than raw cooled motors. They have hotter thermostats for that reason.
