Can anyone help me? I am thinking of purchasing a 24 volt trolling motor for more power against the heavy current of the Mississippi River. I currently have a 12 volt trolling motor hooked up to two optima gel batteries that are hooked up in parralel. I have these batteries hooked up to a 1/2/all/off perko switch which I shut off when I charge. The batteries are hooked up individually and directly to a two bank "guest" waterproof charger . The problem I have is my starting motor and my electronics are also hooked to these batteries. Would it be possible to hook up these batteries in series for a 24 volt system and still be able to have my outboard and electronics hooked up to these batteries with out having to add a third battery? Also my wire to my 12 volt trolling motor seems to get hot if I troll against the current (Mississippi River) for an extended time. I thought I had a bad plug in, so I repaced plug with bolt-on wire nuts to the wire, yet still the trolling motor wire would get hot upon extended use. Any one have any Ideas? Thanks Randy
