Hi all. I decided to add electric trim tilt to my 1995 force 40 hp. So far I have bolted the unit on and have ensured that it works by supplying 12v. Its not wired up to the relays or controls yet.
The question is how much of the manual tilt system do I remove? I have removed the spacer bar and strap that limited the manual tilt max. This allowed me to attach the unit.
It looks like I remove the pivot shaft the holds the manual tilt/ lock mechanism. Is there anything I dont need to be removing?
Up to this point I was using the parts diagrams and relying on the "manual tilt only" marked parts but for the manual tilt mechanism ,only one part-a washer says "manual tilt only".
Any help would be much appreciated. It looks like I just remove anything thats in the way of and stopping the cylinder from closing all the way.
I dont want to be removing anything thats crucial!
