I have heard a lot about a method to convert 1970-76 55HP MagnaPower CD Ignition outboard into a Battery Ignition with Alternator (To alleviate having to have the CD Module). Franz at ChryslerCrew says it can be done and he's the master on these things.

He has not told me how but I would feel like a beggar asking him because he has already been so great to me. As everyone knows,The CD Modules are really expensive and nearly impossible to find while it is easy to find Condensers (Model # 18-5169 Condenser here on iBoat / Current Price $5.05), and available many other places. So it just makes sense to me to convert them over and save on ignition parts without sacrificing on HP.

I would suppose that I would have to find rectifiers too (Or can I use the existing one) ? Does anyone know?

Does anyone also know where to find rectifiers (for a 1975 model #557HD)? I may possibly need two of them.

Also, Does anyone know if I would have to replace the coils or can I use the existing ones (I think I can use the existing coils)? Does anyone know?

Does anyone know where to find Coils (for a 1975 model #557HD)? I may possibly need two of them as well.

If I figure this out, I will have two used CD Modules to get rid of cheap...
It would also help if someone knows a step-by-step service procedure to do this that they can post or email for me (so I don't have to remake the wheel). If not then I will trial and error it and create a step-by-step service procedure of my own (w/Pics) to post for everyone else on the forum later.

Thanks

Compare your alternator stator of the Magnapower model to the alternator model. I am almost certain they are different. So, you would need to find a stator, the adapter that holds the stator to the block, probably the plate that holds the points, and flywheel. If you can find another junker cheap that has battery ignition with alternator, that's the way to go. Otherwise you will be putting in more money than the engine is worth. Troubleshoot and try to get the Magnapower 55 running before you decide to convert.
