Yes, this has been asked several times.
Yes, I have checked the passed threads, and probably not enough..
So if you can hook me up with the proper thread.. Many thanks!

I have an 1988 14' Grumman with the same year 25hp Evinrude outboard on her.
Love the boat and she's been all around the New England area.

I'm getting old and hanging on to that tiller is getting just as old.
Besides, getting up to check bait and dropping to troll, then spinning in a circle..

I've checked the OB's for remote steering and $3oo plus is just too much for what I'm after.

A nice 5 to 1 lever for steering
1 to 1 for power
And I would be good to go!

Suggestions (short of selling the boat please.. I do love this boat).

Welcome to iboats! :welcome:

Are you trying to convert your current boat and motor to console controls? If so, maybe your best bet would be to find a derelict boat with an Evinrude and the matching controls. Buying new will be pricey, as you have discovered.

A couple of old clothes line pulleys, 15' of 3/8" clothes line rope and a couple of old wire clothes hangers should fix you up.

Seriously though, do you really want to "jack-leg" the steering and throttle controls on your boat? $300 sounds pretty cheap to me for what you want... especially if you love your boat like you say you do.

NYBo's fix sounds feasible, but it'll probably take a while to locate the compatible equipment and it'll still end up costing you some money... the $300 is a "now" fix that works well.
