finally got time to get back to working on the motor. Its a 87 johnson 28. while i was takeing the starter off to replace the high speed jet in the carb I relized the the bracket on the side of the block broke this is after the part on the front broke off the block where the starter mounts to. I was wondering if it is possible to convert to a pull start and what I would have to do.

Without looking it up, my guess is that you would have to change the hood too.

I added a manual starter as a back up on my 1988 Johnson 30 hp. All you need to do is get a rewind starter from a 20-35 hp and a manual start cowl. Of course, its needs to be from the same series of motors. Anything from the 1980's will work.

You can get the parts on eBay, local buy and sell papers or websites, marine wreckers, etc.
