I have a '93 Ebbtide 20 foot bowrider with a 350 Mag 5.7 and Alpha 1 drive. I'm going to be pulling the drive and replacing bellows, etc this winter. I've never done the job but hopefully don't anticipate too many problems.

When I bought the boat about 5 years ago, the fact that it was loud was a plus. Now, not so much. I end up getting paranoid about ruining everyone else's day with the noise. The previous owner did the conversion and did a good job from what I can tell. However, in looking at it, it looks to me as if the original exhaust Y pipe (not sure if that's what it's called, but it's what it looks like) is still in the boat and still attached at the bottom. It's simply capped off with sturdy rubber caps and clamps at the top. Would converting back be as simple as capping the thru-hull tips in the same manner and replacing the current straight hoses with elbows to reconnect the original exhaust?

Thanks in advance guys!

That's all there is to it.
You will need items 1 thru 6

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Do you think there is a chance that years of discontinued use would have rendered that Y pipe too corroded internally so as to restrict flow? I'm assuming the best way to test would be just throw a hose in there and make sure the water flows freely out the bottom end? Thanks and sorry for the dumb questions.

Stock Y pipes are typically aluminum. They tend to last a long time, even if capped off. Try the hose test, I think you'll be fine.

One other option for you; instead of the oem elbow, put a diverter in there and you can have "silent choice".
