Good evening iboaters. Here is my situation. I've got a Johnson '57 35hp (RDE-19) that's currently a long shaft that I'd like to convert to a short shaft. I have a friend who's very capable of helping me with this. I also have a friend that has the parts that I need to do this job... but he's just taking forever getting back to me with a price for the parts that I need. Now last weekend I bought a Johnson '55(?) 5.5hp CD-12 short shaft that needs lots of parts. I bought it because I like the looks of it and I have alternate plans for it. Hey for $15 what can I say. My question is, do I have the parts that I need in this CD-12 already to convert my 35hp? I have no clue. I'm guessing that the parts in the 5.5 aren't strong enough to put into the 35 but I could be totally off base. Like I said... I have no clue. Can anyone help me out?

Motors are night and day different, you will need to find the correct drive shaft and shift shaft to fit your motor, 5.5 is not only not strong enough they are a totally different design from the powerhead down.

Go to aomci.org and see if someone has the parts you need on the webvertize board.

Thanks for getting back to me King... that's what I figured, but I thought I'd throw it out there. It's happened to me before where I could have used "this" to fix "that", so I figured better safe than sorry. Thanks again.
