I am working on my 1989 Champion Bass boat. Bought another boat to salavage the motor for my boat.

I am attempting to swap over the tach from the new boat (glasstream) to the champion boat. The motor on the Champion was a 1988 115 Tower(mariner), the motor that is going back on it is a 1978 115 Tower(merc)

The tach between the two are different

This is what is currently on the Champion.

Now here is what is from the Glasstream

how can I get the older tach to work on the newer boat?

Re: Converting Tachs

Both motors have 12 pole stators so you shouldn't have to do anything except install it.

Re: Converting Tachs

Looks like the older tach is just a two wire system. It does not need a +12 volt connection. Just the signal and ground (and the internal light if it has one).
