Converting to Electric Trim System?

Has anyone considered or completed this kind of conversion? I have the Volvo Penta SX Cobra strendrive, and the trim cylinders are a giant PITA - looks like I'm going to need to rebuild the pump this next offseason, which doesn't look as simple as the videos would make it seem.

I was thinking today how much easier it would be if I could just fit electric trim onto the boat instead and be free of hydraulics. Is this even possible with this stern drive? If so, what would be involved?

Buckets of Benjamins. With enough time and with enough money, you can do anything.

The trim cylinders would be replaced with linear actuators. The actuators must be able to work in water and with enough stroke to match the cylinders max extension. Plus they need to have quite a bit of power to trim against the prop thrust and typically linear actuators are slow.

So you need 12 volt industrial actuators, probably 100% stainless, sealed, long stroke and high power with a custom mounting system.

Better make that barrels of Benjamins.

How much would a new pump cost?
