Re: converting to outboard

OK Boat was a 18' Renkin V-hull I/O with 6cyl chevy mercruiser. Transom was shot, floor around engine shot also. I removed the deck, and cut 1' down from top at the first rib. I cut rear off at front of motor well. It's starting to look alot like a bass boat. Not sure if I want to use a long shaft or short shaft engine. What I have as of now is a hull that is 14' long, just under 7' wide and 2 1/2' tall at the transom. I want to keep weight down and probably 3 people at the most. Also uncertain on using steering and remote controls or just using controls on the engine. Speed is not important.

Re: converting to outboard

todays standard transom is 21 inches. bottom of keel to top of transom build the sides high with a cut down for the engine, and install a motor splash well.
