Coolant flow on Suzuki DF70

I have a 99 Suzuki DF70 4 stroke. During the time I have had it there have been several occasions when the tell tale has plugged. I was always able to clear it. Recently it quit spraying water and I was not able to restore the flow by clearing it. I change the impeller and impeller housing which was scored up a bit. I still have no flow through the tell tale. I hooked up a hose to the flush port and ran it a while with no change. I pulled the hose off what appears to be the thermostat housing on top of the engine and I do have water flow out of this housing. It is not a fast flow, but it does steadly move water out of the thermostat housing. I really have no idea how much water should be comming out here. There seems to be very little pressure and volume of flow. It would probably take a couple seconds to fill a coffee cup. I really don't know what the coolant flow is in this engine. I also pulled the drain plug out of the bottom of the exhause manifold with the engine running and got no water there. The engine has not overheated, and seems to run perfectly, but does seem a bit hot. I have had no alarms. I am interested in any suggestions or information I can get on additional troubleshooting steps I can take. Thanks for any and all help.

The tell Tale comes out before circulation through the block on the DF70, utik.

When working, it indicates water pressure going in to the cooling system.

Sounds like you have a Tell Tale problem. If you had a cooling problem the instrumentation would warn you as soon as the engine got too warm..

Good luck. :)

Well, you were right. I pulled the right side lower cowl off. With this cowl removed you can see the hose that feeds the tell tale. I started to remove the hose from the back of the tell tale and as soon as I started messing with it, water started to flow. I cleaned everything out and it is spraying properly now. Thanks for the help.

Utik
